September 12 - 5pm - Letter from the Depot
Don’t miss vocalist Sandy Gardner and the Chuck Gardner Trio. Act One will feature Sandy Gardner’s “A Letter from the Depot”. This original one-woman musical will transport you back to the glory days of trains and the Tulsa Union Depot. Act Two will feature Sandy and the Trio offering great jazz standards and a few new surprises. With Pianist/ arranger Chuck Gardner leading the swinging musicians -Sandy, Bill Crosby on upright bass and Tony Yohe on drums, these great artists will take you on a spectacular journey of outstanding musicianship and jazz improvisation.
September 19 - 5pm - The Music of Ella Fitzgerald, Johnny Hartman and Michael Bublé
The smash hits of the 1st Lady of Song, Ms. Ella Fitzgerald, as sung by Cynthia Downing Simmons; the melodious vocal prominence of the flawless Johnny Hartman, as sung by Loren Stidham and the contemporary sound of today’s version of Frank Sinatra, the wildly popular Michael Buble’, as sung by Luke Garcia. Jazz Hall inductee, pianist Sonny Gray and his quartet provide accompaniment. An incredible afternoon of the great American Songbook.
September 26 - 5pm - Jeff Shadley and Friends featuring pianist Ben Markley
The Jazz Depot welcomes back one of its favorite artists, trumpeter/vocalist, Jeff Shadley and his “Friends” for a stirring concert about friends and for friends. Jeff’s special guest is pianist Ben Markley - The show is about how jazz unites us no matter what our nationality, race, religion or politics. It's about how Jazz lovers are really a family. Whether you are a listener or a performer, we take care of each other…. So bring a friend! You’ll be glad you did.
October 3 - 5pm - Violinist Christian Howes
As an educator, performer and composer, Christian Howes has gained great notoriety and respect from critics and players alike. Christian was a favorite of the late Les Paul, with whom he worked for 11 years. In August, 2009, Christian was ranked (for the third time) as the #2 violinist in the Downbeat Critics Poll “Rising Stars.” According to the Chicago Reader, “Not since Jean Luc Ponty has a violinist ranged from pure classical to fuzz-tone rock to convincing jazz with such authority.” An Associate Professor at the Berklee College of Music, he is also the founder of the Creative Strings Workshop and Festival. The Jazz Hall is pleased to have Mr. Howes for a return engagement.
October 10 - 5pm - TU Jazz Band starring Trombone Jazz Master & Jazz Hall inductee Conrad Herwig
Jazz Hall Inductee Conrad Herwig is one of the world’s great jazz trombonists and he’ll star in a concert with the TU Jazz Band, under the musical direction of professor of jazz studies, Vernon Howard. Get your tickets early, as Mr. Herwig will raise the roof on the Jazz Depot and music lovers will walk out tapping their toes and clapping their hands to the genius of Mr. Herwig and the big band sound of TU’s ensemble.
October 17 - 5pm - Brenda Johnson and the Jazz Rhapsody Trio
The Songstress Brenda Johnson and her Jazz Rhapsody Trio plan an afternoon of jazz classics performed as only the way she can sing them. Accompanied by top-notch stellar musicians, featuring Cortez Johnson on bass, Cheryl Bocanegra on piano and Arthur Thompson on drums, Ms. Johnson and company will mesmerize your senses with their flawess musicianship.
October 24 - 5pm - An Evening with Jazz Hall Inductee - Guitarist Pat Kelley
TU grad, Jazz Hall Inductee and legendary guitarist Pat Kelley will join forces with Bill Crosby on bass and Tony Yohe on drums in a concert featuring compositions from Mr. Kelley's five CD's. The Jazz Depot welcomes Mr. Kelley from Los Angeles for a magical afternoon of "nuttin' but jazz." You must see this one.
November 7 - 5pm - Cole Porter Revue "C'est Magnifique"
One of America's great composers is the illustrious Cole Porter, who created a library full of great American song classics. From Broadway shows to movies, Mr. Cole had hits by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and other interpreters of his compositions. Some of the featured tunes will be: I Love Paris, True Love, Just One of Those Things, Love for Sale, Night & Day. Musical stars are Sandy Gardner, Chuck Cissel, Pam Crosby, Angie Cockrell, Chris Middlebrook and Devre Jackson. The Chuck Gardner Trio provides musical backup.
November 14 - 5pm - Ryan and Ryan Piano Duo "Tickling the Ivories"
Jazz Hall Inductee and piano icon Donald Ryan and his son Barron Ryan hit center stage at the Jazz Depot with their fantastic piano duet concert. Donald and Barron have been invited back due to the overwhelming response from last season. The duo will play your favorite jazz standards and a bit of ragtime as well. Mark your calendars, as you will want to see these amazing artists in action. In a word - WOW!
November 21 - 5pm - The Duke Ellington Revue
Some of the hallmarks of jazz compositions come from the magical works of the late great Duke Ellington - Satin Doll, Beginning to See the Light, The A Train, Sentimental Mood, Sophisticated Lady and others will be performed by Jazz Hall inductee Sonny Gray's trio, along with talented vocalists Dionne White, Cynthia Simmons, Missy Allen, Luke Garcia, Chuck Cissel and Chris Middlebrook.
December 5 - 5pm - NSU Jazz Ensemble
Jazz professor and music director Dr. Tommy Poole and his exciting band come to the Jazz Depot for an incredible evening of music featuring this astounding Northeastern University Jazz Ensemble from Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Bring the kids along for this concert.
December 12 - 5pm - Janet Rutland's "Baby It's Cold Outside"
One of the favorite performers at the Jazz Hall, Ms. Rutland and her musicians always present one of the most sought after shows of any season. This season will be no different, because the compositions will feature many of her favorites. Get your warmest coat and come by the Jazz Depot to enjoy one of Tulsa's musical treasures for "Baby It's Cold Outside." Guest vocalist, Chuck Cissel. Don't miss it!
December 19 - 5pm - Gospel Extravaganza with Dr. Joey Crutcher
Always a hand-clapping good time, Jazz Hall Gospel inductee Dr. Joey Crutcher brings the Gospel Workshop Choir of America to the Jazz Depot for their annual holiday concert, filled with your favorite holiday tunes and special gospel numbers. A sure crowd pleaser!
All performances are held at the Jazz Depot. General Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and college students, and $5 for high school students and younger. Under age 12 is free.
