Bartlesville Musical Ensemble to Play Historic Jazz Venue in Downtown Tulsa

Bartlesville, OK - Tulsa’s celebrated Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is hosting the Johemian Jazz Syndicate the second Sunday in September as part of its Sunday Concert Series.  Bartlesville’s own jazz foursome is performing with guest vocalist Stephanie Oliver on September 10 at 5 p.m.

“This show will be primarily jazz but with compositions of all kinds of genres like blues and funk,” added Oliver, who is a veteran for playing at this historic “America’s classical music” venue.

Oliver found her groove when she discovered a CD of Charles Brown songs from the 40s. Since then she’s channeled her talent mirroring her idols such as Anita O'Day, Julie London, Billie Holiday, Blossom Dearie, Frank Sinatra and more.

“I also perform songs from the 60s and 70s by people such as Laura Nyro, Dan Hicks, Tom Waits, Sly & the Family Stone,” said Oliver.

Members of the JoHemian Jazz Syndicate include Spencer Wilson, guitar; Zach Elkins, woodwinds; Matt Hayes, bass and Scott Ambler, drums. The quartet plays old-school jazz by the likes of Miles, Coltrane and Ellington and mainly to their own improvisation.  Their tunes have been heard all over the region at numerous restaurants and musical festivals.

“The Jazz Hall is so supportive to the arts, the music and to us in many ways,” said Oliver. “I love playing here, and I enjoy playing with this group of guys and looking forward to a fun night of music together.”

Tickets to the Sunday Concert Series are $15 for General Admission Tickets, or $20 for Reserved Table Seating, and can be purchased the night of the event or visiting  Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame is located in downtown Tulsa off 1st Street on Boston at 5 South Boston Avenue.
